This procedure is only
offered in our Brisbane and the Gold Coast Surgeries.
For the treatment of
- Facial wrinkles – around the eyes, side
of cheeks
- Facial lines – around the lips and mouth
- Eyelid lifts – baggy eyelids, “tired
eyes”
- Acne scars & other blemishes
- Broken blood vessels
- Birthmarks, port wine stains
- Liverspots & pigment spots
- Benign growths & warts
- Hair transplants
We are now able to remove surface imperfections
and dramatically reduce lines and wrinkles with
a new procedure called laser skin resurfacing.
We can now also gently remove sun-damaged, aging
skin, layer-by-layer using a technology known
as UltraPulse 5000C.
The UltraPulse laser uses a very high energy beam
of light to vaporize scars, lines, wrinkles, and
other skin defects. Laser light penetrates to
a very precise, controlled depth, making the procedure
safe and predictable, and reducing the risk of
scarring or pigmentation problems. Laser skin
resurfacing is nearly bloodless, and is performed
right here in our office, without the costs and
risks of hospitalization or anesthesia.
Because the laser is gentle, comfort both during
and after the procedure is improved, and helps
with a more rapid return to your normal routine.
This NEW LASER RESURFACING TECHNIQUE, helps clear
acne scarring, pigmentation, wrinkles and sun
damaged skin. It is a controlled removal of the
old outer skin, unlike the chemical peel, where
there is no control of the depth of the peel.
Today’s advanced laser technology allows
us to safely, easily, and effectively treat many
benign skin lesions painlessly, on an outpatient
basis. The four main types of laser used to treat
various skin conditions are argon, pulsed-dye,
neodymium: YAG and Erbium.
According to Dr. James Chen, Cosmetic Doctor at
Ashbury Cosmetic and Vein Centre, medical lasers
use and intense beam of light to gently remove
unwanted, damaged, or diseased cells without harming
the surrounding healthy cells. The Laser’s
energy may be delivered as a continuous wave of
light or in pulses, depending on the treatment
and the type of laser used.
Skin conditions treated with the lasers include:
aging and sun-damaged skin, tattoos, moles, warts,
skin tags, stretch marks, acne, hypertropoic scars,
spider veins, and pigmentation.
Lasers have been used successfully at Ashbury
in hundreds of thousands of treatments. Laser
treatments performed properly, by a trained Doctor,
are safe and effective. There are many benefits
to laser surgery including little if any pain,
no needles for patients, less bruising and swelling
and once removed, lesions do not return.
Dr. James Chen, explained that some patients say
they feel a slight sting, like a snap of a rubber
band on the skin, followed by the feeling of sunburn.
Many treatments do not require anesthetics. However,
some patients feel more comfortable with a local
numbing agent like ice or anesthetic cream. For
others, a local anesthetic injection may be beneficial.
How many treatments are required?
This depends of the size, location, depth and
colour of your lesion. Spider veins on the face
and age spots generally do well with one or two
treatments, while darker or deeper birthmarks
may require additional treatment. Port Wine stains
and hemangiomas usually experience satisfactory
results from laser treatments, however as many
as six to eight treatment secessions may be required.
Most patients will see improvement in their vascular
and pigmented lesions. The improvement can be
quite dramatic. However, as with any surgical
procedure, there is always a possibility that
only minor changes will occur and in rare cases
there is no response.
